The geo-Q Research Focus

Climate change may be the greatest challenge of the present time. By analysing the spatial and temporal variations of the gravitational field of the Earth, we can provide unique information on the relevant change processes in the Earth system. Gravitational data allows us to quantify mass variations such as the mass loss of polar ice sheets, the contribution of mass influx to sea level rise, and changes in the hydrological cycle.
